Paper Residential Tower
In my schooling time at PolyU, I decided to use paper to build a village school. Recently, my thought of using paper in architecture is planned in detail. A modular residential unit had been designed. Some sketches and computer rendering have been done. Also, I intend to put this project in open source. Here are some rendering images and sketch.
Pavilion on the grass
Pavilion on the Green Carpet
The organic form is designed in this pavilion. RhinoScript was used to generate the ribs of pavilion and the ribs were unfold into 2d plate which can be fabricated in CNC machine.
Twisting Pentangle Footbridge Design (Hip Wo Street HK)
“Twisting” is the main concept in these bridge design schemes. The footbridge is composed of five tubular steels and pentangle steel rings. By twisting the five tubular steels, the envelop of the bridge is formed. A zero energy-consumed concept is applied in this design. The energy consumption (illuminating system) of the bridge is sustained with the solar panels installed at the rooftop of the bridge.

Twisting Circular Footbridge Design (Kwun Tong Road HK)
The footbridge is composed of six tubular steels and ten circular steel rings. The form of the bridge is achieved by narrowing the diameter at the end of the six tubular steels and twisting them. An intelligent shading system is applied in this design. The ETFE cushion roof will be set as closed mode in sunny day (reflecting direct sun light) and open mode in cloudy day (diffused sun light penetrating the ETFE layer).

Noise Barrier Design (Tai Po Tai Wo Road HK)
This Noise Barrier Design is in Tai Po Wo Road in Hong Kong. The design is inspired by Gaudi.
Noise Barrier Design (Gascoigne Road Flyover HK)
This Noise Barrier Design is at Gascoigne Road Flyover in Hong Kong. The Concept used in this design is “forest path”. By using tree-like steel structure as a supporting elements of the green roof, the experience of passing the noise barrier is like walking the path in forest.
Multi-function Paper Pavilion
This is an experimental buidling design project. I try to use corrugated paper to build a paper arch which can be replicated to form a barrel shape paper pavilion. Due to using paper, the building cost will be enormously reduced. It is designed to be a temporary housing for different uses such as temporary housing for earthquake region, housing or school for developing countries, pavilion for storage....etc. Polyester fabric is used as a skin material. FEA was used to analyse the paper arch, dead load and wind load was considered in this case. The corrugated paper arch can bear heavy loads and little deformation occurs in the analysis. 7m width and 3.5m height 1:1 mock-up paper model was built to show the structural stability. And the paper arch is composed of 9 pieces of paper beam. It is convenient to deliver the whole building parts to the site and to assemble the whole pavilion in a short period of time by several workers with light tools. As the structure is made by paper, every parts of the building can be recycled after the building life span.
HK PolyU Logo Square Redesign
HKPolyU Logo Square Redesign was a group design project in HKPolyU. A real-project collaboration between SD students and PolyU CDO initiated concepts from the needs of students and staff. This improved the sense of belonging : interaction and knowledge exchange experiences within the whole PolyU campus. Through this project, we fulfilled PolyU Motto: “To learn and to apply, for the benefit of mankind”.
Kinetic Bus Stop Design
The bus stop design was a student design project during my study at School of design in HKPolyU. The concept was inspired by Gaudí. The ribs of the canopy will fluctuate according to the number of passengers waiting under the bus stop's canopy. The more passengers waiting at the bus stop, the more fluctuating movement the canopy's ribs is. This kinetic movement design creates an interesting interaction between the built environment and the human being.
